Are you aware that every time the Fed plans to make an announcement, the markets hold their breath all day, just waiting for it, like it is coming down to us from some sort of God, from an alter on high. This is not knew; it has gone on forever . . . yet . . . (and there is a long background story in the artile behind this final statement by Yellen: Here Is What Janet Yellen Answered When Asked [yesterday by Fareed Zakaria] If The U.S. Is In An “Economic Bubble”
Read it, please, and decide what you think about it. If you are interested I’ll share some of my thoughts with you:
“So I would say the US economy has made tremendous progress in recovering from the damage from the financial crisis. Uh, slowly but surely the labor market is healing. Um, for well over a year we’ve averaged about 225,000 jobs a month. The unemployment rate now stands at 5%. So, we’re coming close to our assigned congressional goal of maximum employment. Um, inflation which, um, my colleagues here paul and allen um, spent much of their time as chair um, bringing inflation down from unacceptably high levels. For a number of years now inflation has been running under our 2% goal and we’re focused on moving it up to 2%. Um, but we think that it’s partly transitory influences, namely declining oil prices, and uh, the strong dollar that are responsible for pulling inflation below the 2% level we think is most desirable. So, I think we’re making progress there as well, and this is an economy on a solid course, um, not a bubble economy. Um, we tried carefully to look at evidence of potential financial instability that might be brewing and some of the hallmarks of that, clearly overvalued asset prices, high leverage, rising leverage, and rapid credit growth. We certainly don’t see those imbalances. And so although interest rates are low, and that is something that could encourage reach for yield behavior, I wouldn’t describe this as a bubble economy.”
My thoughts: When I first began to read about the market, I would have been overwhelmed by this statement, totally impressed with what Yellen knew and what I did not – and how much I had to learn. Maybe some of you felt/feel this way, but actually no one else present understood it either.
So what is going on here?
To me, this is a perfect example of the Cult of the Expert being taken to sheer idiocy. It’s one that says, “Be impressed, Be very impressed, and, yes, I know you are too lowly to understand me, and you can just trust me to do what is right for you.” I’ve been trying to say for a very long time that we have been taught to feel small if we don’t have Ph.D.s and a string of degrees after our names.
They have been fooling us with this!
The truth is always, always quite simple; it only takes someone who can think clearly to see through all this gobbledygook, and, thank God, yesterday’s video from KrisAnne says we are beginning to learn to do this. It does not take a lot of higher education to be able to understand that these people are total liars, IMO, and we surely needn’t be impressed by them, even though they earn the highest dollars figures. 🙂
Anyone who had any respect for us, who hadn’t purposely dumbed our education, could speak to us openly, honestly, and in a way that we would immediately understand. We need to wake up to the deceit involved here!
In a wonderful article, shared by a reader, the discussion revolves around this idea, plus the fact that the people with all these expensive credentials, who are obviously making all these mistakes, never go to jail, and it asks the question, “Why is this happening?”
Wake up, friends, we’ve been had – with all this talk of ‘degrees’ bringing ‘merit! What they have really brought is a very sick control over us!!!~J
Here is the article, and I think you will find it is really worth your time:
